July 29th Mail and Card

Another mail delivery and experimenting with making cards. The big package contained stamps and cutting dies and I love them.

I love love love this camping stamp and die set and I know to exactly whom I’ll be sending the first card to.

The smaller package contained this camera cutting die. I used it to work with the lawn fawn magic iris cutting (the pink circle in the photo).

The tab to open and close the Magic Iris isn’t long enough, but I can make it longer to work with it. I though I should have a more appropriate use for this cutting die then just my previous one.

This isn’t everyone’s sense of humor, but the recipient loved it. My nieces’ birthday is coming up and a cat butt card is definitely not appropriate. I’ll use the camera die instead.

I wanted to try out my new blending brushes I received earlier this week and chose the Gina K tutorial.

Sorry for the blurry photos! This background reminds me of Joe Exotic the Tiger King guy. I wish I had a tiger stamp, but unfortunately, I did not. Instead, I gave it an 80s vibe.

Mail Today

My Hero Art kit came in and a couple other card maker supplies I ordered.

I love the Hero Arts kit, it’s pretty pricy for Canadians (around $70 Canadian with shipping), but I love it. I try hard to avoid spoilers until I get it. I like it to be a surprise. There are YouTubers I watch, that get this kit way before I do, and a lot of times I end up seeing it before I get it. They need a spoiler alert lol

These stamps and cutting dies also arrived the same day. I’m not sure my plans for them yet. They are cute, I’ll have fun experimenting with them.

July 2020 Paper Pumpkin Kit From Stampin Up

Paper Pumpkin is an all-inclusive card making kit that costs $33.90 Canadian, including shipping. The kit comes complete with everything you need to put the cards together (your first box includes an acrylic stamping block).

This month’s kit was Summer party themed and came with supplies to make party invites and treat bags (I think they missed the mark doing party invites during a pandemic, but I’ll forgive them, I love these kits).

The kit usually contains cards, but sometimes they do other things (like the treat bags). The invites weren’t the flip open kind, they were a single page, like a postcard.

You’ll be stamping your own sentiments, you can follow their suggestions, but they give you a few options with the cling stamps.

After stamping, the kit comes with punch-out embellishments and adhesive (this time they were stingy with the glue dots and I had to use some of my own).

The invites turned out really cute. I didn’t make the treat bags, I’ll save them for another day. I didn’t want to use these as invites, so I attached them to card bases I already had. I like how they turned out.

Mail And Craft

I went to visit my parents this weekend, for the first time since COVID. It was so great to see them, but nerve-racking and second-guessing myself if it was safe enough yet. We were distanced, wore masks, and stayed outside. I would like to see them again soon and will use the same precautions.

I made this card using bleach, with a technique I learned on YouTube, using a Gina K tutorial. I liked the way it turned out and will be mailing it to my folks on Monday.

I got a new cutting die in the mail on Friday and experimented with a new card. I paired it with an embossing folder that also arrived recently. The embossing folder reminds me of a car tire, as well as the knitting pattern it was designed as. The card I made does NOT suit the weather and I’m still having trouble with heat embossing, but whatevs. I’m still learning and having fun with it.

I Got Mail!

Today was a one of those days that make me happy. I had an extra day off work, I received a letter from a friend, my Hero Arts package arrived, and my sweetie surprised me with a gift.

He sent me a bottle of my favourite wine, just because. How did I get so lucky?? This wine isn’t available locally, he had to order it directly from the winery.

My June 2020 Hero Arts kit arrived today. This is one of my monthly card making subscriptions, and I love it.

Today was just peachy. It rained and I relaxed with a book, went for a walk (when the sun came out), was spoiled by my fiancee, and received some pretty cool mail. Yes, it was a good day.
