August 05/2020 Mail

Today’s mail brought me delight.

My Sizzix Big Kick die cutting machine had broken. I love to make cards and although I could still somewhat use the machine, it was a nightmare to cut with. It only partially cut and I had to shove things into it to make it work. Today, the new one arrived and I can’t wait to try it.

I got the replacement part for my food processor today.

I got this for Christmas years ago and although the base is built really well, the plastic jar became brittle and broke. Instead of getting a new one, I replaced it. I really like it, it does a great job and I wanted to keep it instead of trashing it. It makes pie crust so easy.

The little package was a cutting die. I will have to think of a cute card for an animal lover for this one. The little flower must be an extra add on. I didn’t order it. It’s cute too.

July 29th Mail and Card

Another mail delivery and experimenting with making cards. The big package contained stamps and cutting dies and I love them.

I love love love this camping stamp and die set and I know to exactly whom I’ll be sending the first card to.

The smaller package contained this camera cutting die. I used it to work with the lawn fawn magic iris cutting (the pink circle in the photo).

The tab to open and close the Magic Iris isn’t long enough, but I can make it longer to work with it. I though I should have a more appropriate use for this cutting die then just my previous one.

This isn’t everyone’s sense of humor, but the recipient loved it. My nieces’ birthday is coming up and a cat butt card is definitely not appropriate. I’ll use the camera die instead.

I wanted to try out my new blending brushes I received earlier this week and chose the Gina K tutorial.

Sorry for the blurry photos! This background reminds me of Joe Exotic the Tiger King guy. I wish I had a tiger stamp, but unfortunately, I did not. Instead, I gave it an 80s vibe.

I Built A Mini Library!

OK I sort of built the library. The wonderful people at Home Hardware in St. Mary’s mostly built the library. I brought the plans in for them to cut out the pieces and they put most of it together for me. I painted it and my guy helped me staple the shingles to the roof and attach it to the pole. I’ve filled it full of books and hoping it gets a lot of use. I saw one of my neighbours checking it out!

If you are unsure of what a mini library is, it is a weather proof structure of any size you prefer, that you install on your property for the purpose of lending books, to your community. Your neighbours can donate as well as borrow. This is the first one I’ve had so I’m not sure how quickly it will empty out. I read a lot and I think I will be able to keep it stocked.

I also plan on adding a Geocache in there, which is another hobby of mine. I’ll be putting a gift card from one of the local stores in it, for the first person to find it.

I’m pretty stoked about it. I used to be terrible at finishing projects, and this is one I can say I’ve completed. It turned out really well!

I Made A DIY Macrame Plant Hanger And I Love It!

Macrame was huge when I was a kid. It wasn’t the same as the all cotton rope they have now. The kind I was playing with was some kind of synthetic fiber, and I loved it. I made a few plant hangers and a blue owl wall hanging. I have no idea if they are still kicking around out there somewhere today. I remember my dad had hand made all the wooden beads for them. I wish I still had them.

I ordered the macrame rope off Amazon.ca and I got the pattern right here on WordPress, from this wonderful blogger. The wooden beads came from the local Michaels.

It was fast and easy and the end result turned out great. Even if you’ve never done it before, it was really easy. I wasn’t quite sure how to do the end of the pattern, so I took a guess and ad libbed a tad. This project took a few hours to complete and I love it!
