It was a Subway day today. I had wanted a pita, but my schedule worked out that I wouldn’t be near a Pita Pit, today. I am still on the takeout wagon and ended up at Subway. I love the Beyond Meatball sub, but they didn’t have it, so I opted for the veggie pattie sub. You cant tell from the photo because the gigantic veggie pattie is hiding it all, but there are actually quite a bit of vegetables on there. It was okay, but please please bring back the beyond veggie balls. I miss it!
I usually only get a 6 inch, but since I’m doing OMAD (one meal a day), I felt justified in getting a foot long sub (I admit I got cookies too). I was really hungry and thought I could plow through that sandwich, but I couldn’t. I was stuffed after half of it. I’m still going to eat the other half sometime before I go to bed tonight, which is probably not part of the OMAD rules (I don’t really know what the rules are), but I’m still going to finish it.

Today went well. I was hungrier than yesterday, but I made it until evening. I went out to the Thai Hut and got this dish called Pad La Na. It was okay. I’ve loved everything from the Thai Hut, but this one wasn’t my favourite. I want to try everything on their menu, I love that place so much. I recommend the green curry and peanut noodle dish. I love them. I don’t usually eat out this much, but I’ve lost my cooking mojo. Tomorrow I’ll be going out for pitas. Hopefully after that I get back into cooking. I just haven’t felt like it lately.
I’m very thirsty this evening. I’m currently drinking hot, black tea. During the day I had a small coffee and two Bubly drinks. I don’t normally get thirsty. The Bublys make me pee like crazy. Maybe that has something to do with it. I want to drink another Bubly, but I do worry that much carbonation is bad for you. I also do NOT want to drink water. Even infused water is something I’m not very good about drinking it. It’s something I have to work on.

I was doing the One Meal A Day thing before my vacation. I was only on it for a short time and had even dropped three pounds. Then vacation came. I ate like a fiend and gained the three pounds back. My vacation is now over and I’m starting OMAD again.
Today is a retake on day one. I overate so much yesterday, my body didn’t even cue me I was hungry until around 4:30 and that is not usual for me. My spouse had a rough day and I wanted to take him out to a Thai restaurant we both really like in Stratford called the Thai Hut, but unfortunately they are closed on Mondays.
We ended up at Harvey’s instead for some veggie burgers (I LOVE Harvey’s veggie burgers!). I really wanted french fries at that point, but eating one meal a day, some veggies needed to be in there. I ordered the garden salad (the only one they had) and it was typical of a fast food sald (iceberg lettuce and a couple random other veggies thrown in there). I’m pretty sure iceburg lettuce has very little nutrients in it, but it was again all they had. I also swiped some french fries from my spouse too (yum).
I took a calcium supplement later when I got home. I would have taken a multivitamin with it too, but by that time my stomach wasn’t stuffed enough. If I don’t take them when I’m eating, I will get super nauseated later.
I really wasn’t all that hungry today because of the weekend. Tomorrow might be a different story, but today went really well. I had a small coffee for breakfast and a couple Bubly sparkling water beverages. I won’t have another vacation for a while, so this round of OMAD should go much better.

I bought one today. I already have one, but I have to step on it several times before it starts giving a consistent number. I snapped this one up at a Canadian Tire for $29.99. Hopefully the number on my old scale wasn’t way off and I have a wake up call tomorrow morning!
I also bought this ridiculous thing for $39.99. I’m going to need to write out my inner monologue here:
A “Oh cool it’s like a more fun push up” B “Or you could do an actual push up… for free” A “I can’t do a push up” B “Even more of a reason to keep trying. Force yourself to do it A “Yeah, I’m not doing that. This looks more fun and easier” B “….” A “This way I might actually do push ups… on this thing” B “Maybe for a week, then you can put it with all the other fitness equipment that you don’t use” A “But isn’t it better to try something new and see if it works. What if this is the thing that will set me off on a fitness lifestyle and I get ridiculously fit, all because of this pull up thingy?” B “Is that what you actually think is going to happen?” A “Pfft I’m buying it anyway” B *sigh…
So I bought it. Now I have to use it because inner voice B is right way too often.
As for OMAD… At the office again, someone sent me home with some cookies. I am a cookie magnet these days! I totally ate a ton of them too, but I waited until the car ride home, after 6:15pm to get into them. I more of the leftovers from Muya’s (still delicious the next day!), and had some iced tea. I ate so much takeout yesterday I hurt myself. I was still down a pound this morning though (according to two out of five tries on the scale).
I always drink a coffee in the morning (black) and throughout the day I drink Bubly’s. Usually 3 of them. I don’t know if that many carbonated drinks is good for you. I used to drink tea, but that stuff is so full of chemicals, I don’t think that is the greatest choice either. If I try to drink plain water, I might drink a glass, but that seems to be all I will drink.
It’s the weekend tomorrow and I’m not planning to follow OMAD on weekends, just weekdays. I’m also on vacation now and have a feeling OMAD might not be in the cards until I’m back to work. I’ll try to somewhat behave though.

Today went really well. I had my morning coffee and later on a Bubly. I didn’t feel sick, I was hungry on and off during the day, but it went away. A friend of mine brought me her extra injera (I LOVE injera!). I stopped by Muya Injera on the way home and got take out. This was my dinner and it was delicious.

Day 3 of OMAD and I didn’t make it to dinner. I felt nauseated and dizzy just before 3pm today. I think it was from having a second cup of coffee on an empty stomach. I’m really caffeine sensitive and at the most can only handle two cups a day, any more and I get jittery and my face feels weird. I think two cups on an empty stomach was too much and I’m still getting used to fasting. My lovely colleague baked alfajores, so guess what I broke my fast early with… Cookies! Just one this time, better then yesterdays hoard.
I bought these crackers for a healthier option, in case I feel sick and dizzy again. I hope I don’t need them, but this way I wont get something worse. I had a container of blueberries on the way home. When I did get home, I had a couple cashews and a pickle.
I had the exact same thing for dinner I had yesterday, barley, chickpeas, avocado, and broccoli, with sesame ginger sauce on top. This time I put a big scoop of hummus on top. Right now I’m drinking my third Bubly and thinking about grabbing another pickle.
Does a giant snack before dinner still count as OMAD?

I made it another day doing OMAD (one meal a day). During the day wasn’t too bad. I was hungry a couple times and my stomach growled, but it went away. I was starving at the end of my day, even hungrier than yesterday. I had the biggest craving for Crispie Minis, the flavoured rice cake bites. I LOVE those things. I ate two bananas on the ride home, but I was still starving. I ate a couple handfuls of cashews and a cookie when I got home (only one today and that’s probably because there was only two left – one was for my spouse. If there was more I would have ate them).
For dinner I made a big Buddha bowl. I made pearl barley in the instant pot and cooked broccoli in the air fryer. I added half an avocado and some chickpeas. I topped the bowl with a sesame ginger sauce. I had it with a glass of coconut milk (the Silk brand carton style, not the can) and took a multivitamin and a spirulina capsule. I’m going to take a calcium supplement every other day. I think I heard taking calcium could be bad for you, but I don’t remember where, or if that is even true.
I finished most of the bowl, but the dog did get some of it. Dinner tomorrow should be super fast to make since I have lots of leftover barley. I’m going to make the exact same thing.

One of my current reads is David Sinclair’s book about longevity. My spouse and I are reading it together, we’re about 1/3 of the way through and it’s not a quick read. There’s a lot of “sciencey” stuff to wade through.
One of the things this book recommends for longevity, is fasting and calorie restriction (without malnutrition). I’m carrying extra weight I’m having trouble getting rid of. I tried intermittent fasting before (the fancy way of saying your skipping breakfast), but I didn’t lose any weight. I think I made up for the missed breakfast at lunch and dinner. I’m trying something similar OMAD (eat one meal a day).
Today was my first day and it wasn’t too bad. I skipped breakfast and lunch. I had a banana on the way home (around 6pm) and a couple cookies as soon as I got home (I know super healthy). I had a veggie burger and more cookies. Then a couple more cookies (cann’t imagine where this extra weight came from). Maybe I didn’t have the best first day with the horrendous amount of cookies I ate. I’ll eat healthier tomorrow. I plan to stick with OMAD on weekdays and eat however I feel on weekends.
I got this package in the mail today.
It had this pen with different sized nibs.
To switch the nibs you yank out the current nib and put a new one on, then shove it back in then again. I haven’t tried it yet to see if it works properly yet. I think the wider nibs will work better with shimmery inks.
