What’s Happening With OMAD

Not a thing. I was doing one meal a day before the Christmas holidays, but things fell apart. I had a rough holiday (I had to put my dog down) and I ate my feelings. I gained back the seven pounds I had lost and I haven’t been attempting to eat healthy at all. After the holidays were over I didn’t restart OMAD. I was back to eating breakfast, but usually skipped lunch (mostly because I was too lazy to make anything) and then would eat dinner (and a lot of junk food. Cadbury Creme Egg season is here and that sweet sweet sugary goo egg is irresistible to me. It’s one of my favourite candies).

My spouse is back into intermittent fasting (skipping breakfast) and as I like to sleep in for the mornings, that means I am too. I’ve been getting really hungry during the afternoons and have been getting chips for a snack. It’s not the healthiest of lunches. Lately, I am way too hungry to stick with OMAD. Switching to intermittent fasting (skipping breakfast) and having lunch and dinner, seems like the right decision for me, right now.

I’m going to have to find the time to cook a healthy lunch, or I’m going to keep buying unhealthy snacks instead. I’m going to focus on eating healthier, unprocessed food. I get a lot of takeout, but there are still some fairly healthy options out there.

This was my dinner tonight. I love love love the Pita Pit Halloumi pita. I don’t feel guilty when I get this, It’s full of veggies. When I got home I split a Founder’s Tequila cocktail with my spouse. We went to the liquor store and I bought a bottle of Bailey’s Espresso (it’s a flavourgasm, my favourite). I’m probably going to have some tonight, it is almost guaranteed.

OMAD, COVID Scares and Thanksgiving

I spent a lot of my Thanksgiving waiting for a COVID swab to come back (it was negative). I didn’t get the results until late Saturday, when it was already most of the way through the family dinner I was supposed to be at. My spouse and I didn’t know how long we were going to have to be stuck inside, so we ordered groceries delivered to our home, with contact free delivery.

We weren’t feeling the “cooking” vibe and got all convenience food.

I got vegetarian stuffed turkey to try.

My spouse ordered the boxed stuffing and potatoes and I made fun of him for it, but they were better than my “turkey” thing. The turkey part was okay, but the stuffing it was stuffed with, wasn’t very good. I wanted to like it, but I didn’t. I do love other products from this brand though.

So this was dinner. It wasn’t quite homemade, but I was with my love, and that made it wonderful.

I did make a pie. I used a store bought vegetarian pie crust (I don’t remember the brand) and got the filling recipe here. I didn’t have enough strawberries, so I just made up for it in apples. I wanted a crumble topping and got the recipe for that, here.

It turned out really good. It was the best part of the dinner, and I’m embarrassed to say, we ate the entire pie in under 24 hours!

OMAD did not happen while I was isolating at home. I ate breakfast, lunch, dinner, and lots of snacks. I am much better when I’m not home. When I’m around the food, I seem to have trouble staying out of it.

Despite being a human vacuum for food these past few days, I only gained one pound for the weigh in. I was really surprised about that, I was expecting much more. I did do some hiking once my results came back. It must have helped a lot.

There was also Crispers and Drumstick caramel ice cream. No regrets!

OMAD Week 5

It was a great week for me. I’m now down seven pounds in total and even crossed into the next 10lb section. I hadn’t lost any weight for the last two weeks, so I’m really happy about it. I ate OMAD (one meal a day) Monday to Friday, and then whatever I wanted on the weekend (I did use a little more restraint this weekend). That being said, I still ate pie, cookies, and went to Montana’s for dinner.

I’ve been loving Hello Fresh. The meals were SO good and also really healthy. Unfortunately, it’s just too expensive to continue on, but I’m going to try and keep in the spirit of it and eat less takeout and cook more at home. I do love the idea of someone choosing your meal (especially if it’s full of veggies and healthy) so I can try new things.

So far, I’m loving this way of eating. I still get hungry a lot during the day, but it passes. I haven’t had problems with dizziness in awhile. It’s something I think I will be able to stick with.

I saw a genius post on Facebook with someone using string to measure their waist one a month and comparing the string size. I’m going to do that. I wish I had done that from the start. Here’s to week six!

The week had started out great, by Friday I was down a total of two pounds for the week and 7 pounds since I started, but I messed it all up over the weekend. Today I was up almost three pounds making my grand total of weight loss for the last two weeks at only around 1/2 a pound. I don’t to OMAD (one meal a day) over the weekends, only weekday, and then eat whatever I want on weekends. Clearly, I need to quit “whatever I want” on weekends, it’s wrecking any progress I make during the week.

It’s a new week and although I don’t plan on eating OMAD on weekends, I will be behaving a lot more than I have been.

I didn’t lose any weight at the end of the week, but I’m not frustrated, just a tiny bit disappointment. It’s early shark week (that’s a period reference) and I always gain a couple pounds beforehand. That’s why I’m not super upset about not losing anything this week.

I definitely need to be better on weekends. Sunday was a free for all eating fest. I made the magic custard cake with a recipe I got from YouTube

It was pretty good and I’m embarrassed to say I ate most of it. Next week I hope to do better.

This is what I had for OMAD (one meal a day) today. I used to have spring rolls all the time. I love them so much and they’re really healthy. I’m happy I made them.

Today went really well. Mondays are usually one of the easier days because weekends I tend to eat a lot. I had some coffee and Bubly. I didn’t have any dizziness. I got really hungry around noon, which is normal for me. The hunger faded and came back around 5 with a vengeance.

The spring rolls are easy to make. I just throw shredded carrots and mushrooms, spinach, green onion, and marinated tofu, into some rice paper. I used to make my own sweet chili sauce, but this time I used a commercially prepared one. I plan on making them more often.

I finished another week of OMAD (one meal a day). I do OMAD on the weekdays and eat whatever I feel like on weekends. I lost a pound this week. My weekends of bad behavior are really stalling the progress, but at least it was a loss, bringing me to a grand total of almost three pounds.

I have struggled with dizziness on OMAD days. On those days I’ll eat a couple salty crackers and that has helped. I’ve noticed that days I drink a Bubly carbonated beverage, the dizziness hasn’t come. I plan on drinking one every OMAD day. If I don’t get dizzy, I’ll stick to that otherwise, I’ll have some crackers when I get dizzy.

I’ve been on OMAD for a total of two weeks now. I see other people losing much more weight than I am, but I think they are doing it 7 days a week. I am always up two pounds after the weekend. I am going to continue this way unless the weight loss stops. It’s working for me even though the weight is coming off very slowly.

Today started out easy enough. I didn’t eat until evening. I had some coffee and tea in the morning. I went out to eat with a friend for dinner. I was doing okay during the day, but by the time I sat down at the restaurant I was starting to get dizzy.

I ordered a pretty healthy meal from the Graffiti Market in Waterloo. I got the Phat Bowl. I found out pickled onion can be super tasty. I liked this bowl and felt good about ordering it. I got some take out for my spouse, a mushroom pizza and I ate almost a whole slice of his pizza. This isn’t ordinary pizza, this is super deep dish (over an inch thick) pizza that was drizzled with truffle oil and cheeses. It was crazy decadent.

I also had a handful of BBQ chips when I got home and chocolate chips. I must be craving sugar because I don’t actually like chocolate chips until they are baked into a cookie. I wanted a peach, but they had already turned. Every peach I buy is rotted in the middle. I’m having no luck with them. Right now I’m enjoying a glass of wine and I’m finished eating for the day.

I think I might bring crackers with me places in case I feel dizzy. I won’t feel bad about breaking the fast in that instance.

Omad 1st Week Roundup

I’m following the one meal a day style of eating (except for weekends). I had some trouble near the end of the week and over the weekend. Thursday and Friday I broke the fast early, Saturday I had what I wanted, and Sunday I skipped breakfast, but ate terribly the rest of the day. I weighed myself today and I’m only down 1.5lbs. I was hoping for more, but glad it was a loss and not a gain.

Today starts week two. It’s a long weekend for me and I’m struggling to wait until dinner. I have the biggest craving for pickled beets. I am going to have them for dinner, probably the whole jar lol. Right now I’m drinking a cherry Bubly and watching a movie with my guy. I worked out this morning, a quick jog. It felt great. It was the first time I worked out in a long time. My week is starting out pretty good.

OMAD Friday Fail Sept 4/2020

I flubbed OMAD today. I felt really crappy yesterday, and woke up with a headache again today, that I thought eating breakfast today was a good idea. I got a Tim Hortons egg and cheese breakfast sandwich, and I felt great after. The plan was to skip lunch, but that didn’t happen. I picked up two of these packs of sushi from the T&T store in Waterloo, for dinner for me and my spouse. We ended up eating it for lunch in the car on the way home. For takeout sushi, this was really good.

While heading over to get my spouse, I stopped at a bakery to pick up some keto treats for my future in laws. The Sconery has my favourite macarons in the whole world – honey lavender. As you can see, I didn’t leave the bakery without getting a couple (they are the same colour, the sunshine skewed the photo). I love love love these macarons. My spouse does not care for macarons, so I also had the both of them on the way home.

For dinner I had a GIANT salad. I thought I had finished eating for the day after this, but I disappointed myself by eating two slices of white toast with butter, that I really didn’t need.

For the weekend, I don’t plan to follow OMAD. Weekends we go out for breakfast with our dog and I always get a breakfast sandwich and latte. Weekends are what people refer to as cheat days. It seems I started early this weekend.
