Let’s Talk About Cloaks

Let’s talk about cloaks and why we don’t wear them anymore. I’ve never worn a cloak, but I really want to. I love the way they look, they remind me of fairy tales. I don’t know why we don’t currently wear them. Since I’ve never worn one, I can’t attest to their practicality. There are no arm holes and maybe they aren’t very warm. It might be a pain in the arse having to hold it closed, and how would you carry your handbag while wearing one (if you carry a handbag). Cloaks were the furthest thing on my mind until I went on YouTube.

Rachel Maksy’s most recent video popped up in my subscription list, she was making cloaks and wearing them. She showed the pattern she used and I bought it on Amazon. I’m going to wait until the pattern comes before I buy the fabric. I’ve got to try this cloak thing out!

I also made cards this week. The two pictured above were my favourites. I made the other three below as well. Jay liked the Thanks card the most.

I cut the Yes!? part off the cat stamp (it was part of the big cat stamp). I didn’t think it went together so I chopped it off. I tried Ann Melvin Positivelypapercraft‘s laminator hack, to make the cat window card. Mine was a little bubbly, I’ll need practice. I’ll post a video of the cutting dies, stamps, and embossing folder I used to make them, below.

August 20/2020 Mail

The mail came with a lot of really great things that I’m excited to try.

These cutting dies make a really nice tri/quad fold card. On the example it was done in red and gold and really pretty.

This alphabet set it cute. It’s letters with a stitched like pattern on them.

A couple embellishments came. I love the rain drops and the circles are cute.

I adore these gnome stamps and cutting dies. I like that you can use them for things other than Christmas. I’ll probably use There’s Gnomebody Like You.

Ah yes, and the new band for my FitBit (that I never wear anymore). This must be a sign I should put it on again. Now that it’s cooler, hiking might be back on the table.

July 29th Mail and Card

Another mail delivery and experimenting with making cards. The big package contained stamps and cutting dies and I love them.

I love love love this camping stamp and die set and I know to exactly whom I’ll be sending the first card to.

The smaller package contained this camera cutting die. I used it to work with the lawn fawn magic iris cutting (the pink circle in the photo).

The tab to open and close the Magic Iris isn’t long enough, but I can make it longer to work with it. I though I should have a more appropriate use for this cutting die then just my previous one.

This isn’t everyone’s sense of humor, but the recipient loved it. My nieces’ birthday is coming up and a cat butt card is definitely not appropriate. I’ll use the camera die instead.

I wanted to try out my new blending brushes I received earlier this week and chose the Gina K tutorial.

Sorry for the blurry photos! This background reminds me of Joe Exotic the Tiger King guy. I wish I had a tiger stamp, but unfortunately, I did not. Instead, I gave it an 80s vibe.

Mail Today

My Hero Art kit came in and a couple other card maker supplies I ordered.

I love the Hero Arts kit, it’s pretty pricy for Canadians (around $70 Canadian with shipping), but I love it. I try hard to avoid spoilers until I get it. I like it to be a surprise. There are YouTubers I watch, that get this kit way before I do, and a lot of times I end up seeing it before I get it. They need a spoiler alert lol

These stamps and cutting dies also arrived the same day. I’m not sure my plans for them yet. They are cute, I’ll have fun experimenting with them.
