I’m relaxing on the couch listening to thunder and light rain. I love these sounds, they’re relaxing. I am having cravings for chocolate. It hit me hard near the end of the day. I went to Healthy Planet for vegetarian beef chunks and sprouting seeds, and I left with those things, but I also left with a cookie. I’ve noticed that if I stay up too late I end up snacking, so I’m going to go back to going to bed early.
Except for the cookie, I ate pretty good today. Breakfast on weekdays is always an egg and cheese sandwich on a whole wheat English muffin, with black coffee. My spouse is the one that wakes up and makes breakfast during the week, so he gets to decide what we’re eating. I enjoy those extra minutes for more snoozing. For lunch I had my usual Healthy Choice bowl. Dinner was the above photo, with brown rice, sprouts, broccoli, beefless chunks, and avocado, with squeezed lemon and some toasted sesame oil. I also put sauerkraut on it too. These bowls are fast and easy. I steam enough rice for the whole week and if anything needs to be cooked I usually toss it into the air fryer. Easy peasy.
Shark week is coming and I can feel a raging froth of PMS broiling inside me. My spouse is watching television and it’s killing my peaceful vibe of nature sounds. He’s already turned the sound down and it’s still irritating me. I AM GROUCHY!!!! Murderous rage!!!!!! I must look into sound proofing.
I’m still working my way up the treadmill. Yesterday I was on it for 20 minutes at 3.6mph, it’s come up from 15 minutes. I’m working on lengthening the time, then I’ll tackle speed. I’ve been enjoying it!
As for soapy nuts… I fell down the YouTube rabbit hole and stumbled on soap nuts. I’ve known about them for awhile and have even had them before (I think I had them for laundry), but I don’t think I’ve ever washed my hair with them before. This girl in the video washes her hair with them and her hair looks good to me. I tried them this morning. I boiled 7 soap nuts in two cups of water and applied it on my dry hair. I left in on for a couple minutes and then rinsed it off. I didn’t use conditioner either. It seemed to work pretty well.
My hair was still pretty easy to comb out afterwards and it did clean my hair. As a bonus my scalp wasn’t itchy like it usually is after washing it (I think it’s because I let my hair air dry). Once isn’t enough to tell how they work, I’ll post an update after using them for a month. I still plan on using shampoo and conditioner to wash out my bimonthly hair dye. I seriously doubt soap nuts could handle that nightmare, but who knows. Not this person.

Hurray on the treadmill progress! I’d love to have a treadmill. Or an exercise bike. I feel like I might do that while watching TV or listening to music. Although when I listen to music I usually sing along, so that might get tricky. We have no space for exercise equipment (step kids take up the 2 rooms we would use for such luxuries!). Not sure what I think of that girl’s hair. Honestly looks a bit dry to me, but mine is like straw so who am I to talk? I recently bought the LUS brand 3-step stuff online for curly hair. The 1st time I used it my curls were awesome! SO full and bouncy. Since then, all I get is waves. I’m doing something wrong but hate spending time on my hair (not like in my 20s). It’s easier to just straighten it. As for going to bed early, I am usually asleep by 9:00 these days, and I watch Netflix in bed usually from 8:00 until I fall asleep, which keeps me from snacking because I’m lying down on my side with the laptop, lol. I make us the egg and cheese on a bagel for lunch sometimes, though I try not to eat too many eggs or too much cheese because eggs are high in cholesterol and cheese is high in fat 😦 So good though!

I saw something people trying the “curly Girl” method on youtube. They seemed to like it, but it involved a TON of hair products. I have board straight hair so I’ve never worked with curls before. I’ll give an update on the soap nuts after I’ve used them more. We eat way too many eggs at our house, but I do not want to give up my morning sleep in!!!

The LUS brand curly hair stuff is only 1 product in your hair. Sulfate free shampoo and conditioner, then the curl stuff that you scrunch in. Leaves it soft, not like gels. I got the fragrance free set.

That sounds more conenvient. We’ve come a long way since the 80’s “crunchy” hair products.

Yes, I had BIG hair in the late 80s to mid 90s. I didn’t want to let go of that look. And used that freeze hair spray lol
